Healthy Legal Minds (HLM) advocates for and provides evidence-based solutions to address the root causes of mental health issues in the legal profession. We are seeking a part-time Communications Strategist to help us develop our digital presence.
WE are a group of passionate and entrepreneurial law students, psychology students, lawyers and social and organisational psychologists looking to improve the way the legal profession understands and tackles mental health challenges. Founded at McGill University Faculty of Law, HLM is expanding its reach to other universities and the professional sector. HLM is hosting our first national event in Ottawa this October.
YOU are an avid Instagrammer, Twitter user, and Facebook savant who knows the power that social media plays in creating social change and can help us realise our mission. You are an independent worker who also contributes proactively to a team. You take ownership of your role. This initiative provides you with a unique opportunity to build the brand of a new organisation, an exciting experience for someone in communications and/or psychology. A background in either (or both) of these areas, as well as a passion for mental health and well-being, is a plus but not necessary. Bilingual in English and French is preferred.
YOUR ROLE with us will entail:
Working with our Communications Director to create a compelling and thoughtful social media strategy that will
Grow our audience
Promote our work as an organization
Share valuable mental health tools, strategies and resources
Executing this strategy, which will include:
Staying on top of the mental health conversation online and in the legal profession and sharing relevant articles.
Drafting original content and working with our graphic designer to realise them.
Developing social media campaign ideas.
Scheduling posts across all platforms.
Being available during conferences and events when necessary to help capture and promote our work (live tweeting, etc.)
Curating our website and social media profiles (biographies, etc.) to accurately and compellingly communicate our mission, vision, and values.

HLM is a volunteer-run organization. The Social Media Director will play a critical role in developing our digital presence in order to become investment ready. This position is a pro bono, 5-7 hours-per-week commitment.
